This type of dam is needed when unable to build the cofferdam from the shoreline or barge. The 10ft wide top of the earthen dam is capable of accommodating earth moving equipment.

Triangle 2 to 1 side slopes:

The type of earthen dam is used when equipment from the shoreline or a barge can build the earthen dam.

Height:

Aqua-Barriers are capable of controlling up to 75% of their inflated height. The depth that the barrier will sink into the site sediment will also need to be determined.

Aqua-Barriers are rented at a minimum of one month. After the initial month rental a weekly lease rate applies

Number of moves:

The number of times that the Aqua-Barriers are moved and reinstalled is also a factor in the rental pricing. Two moves are allowed without any additional costs.

Equipment usage costs:

Cost for equipment used to install and remove the Aqua-Barriers. Generally (2) 4 in 8 horse power trash pumps or (1) 6 inch trash pumps are used to inflate the barriers. They are not required for the barrier removal process. Preferred hydraulic equipment for installing and removing the barriers is a medium to large track hoe with a 30 ft arm. Standing water applications require one piece of equipment and moving water which includes tidal influence require two pieces of equipment.

Rental cost per ton ranges between $350-450 for the 1st month. Subsequent months rental costs range between $35 and$50.

Cleanup costs:

Clean up and repair costs average around $35 a ton.

Cubic yards of fill required:

Calculated by type of earthen dam Height x length = cubic yards of fill required.

Turbidity curtain/ sheet plastic costs:

Type 1 turbidity curtail with a 6ft drop is $6.00 lf. (1) 20ft x 100ft roll of 10 mil plastic is $200.00

Freight :

A standard size dump truck is capable of hauling 13 cubic yds. Freight costs are calculated by volume of earthen fill transported and distance.
