How do the water filled barriers work?

a diagram showing a an Aqua Barrier in action.

Three components act together to stabilize the Aqua-Barriers™:

INTERNAL BAFFLE SYSTEM - The patented internal baffle(s) lock into place when the barrier is exposed to uneven water pressure.

FREEBOARD - The amount of inflated barrier above the water level is called freeboard. A minimum of at least 25% freeboard is required in all Aqua-Barrier™ installations.

SURFACE FRICTION - Aqua-Barriers™ require surface friction to stabilize when exposed to uneven water pressures. Barriers that are exposed to weak soils and/or slick conditions may require additional freeboard.

What are the barriers made of?

Aqua-Barriers™ are constructed from industrial grade vinyl coated polyester. This fabric is laminated with a base of woven polyester between two layers of flexible polyvinyl chloride.

What does this mean to you?

~These units can be REPAIRED EASILY in the field, in wet or dry conditions.

~They are REUSABLE.

~They offer COMPACT STORAGE AND TRANSPORTATION

~They offer EASE OF HANDLING.

What sizes are available?

See the chart below for standard sizes. Inflated heights are 2-feet high through 8-feet high.  Standard lengths are 25, 50, 75 and 100 feet long.

Custom sized units are available upon request.

How do the barriers connect?

Each inflated Aqua-Barrier™ section is straight. When joining the sections, an OVERLAPPING TECHNIQUE is used.

diagram showing Aqua Barriers overlapping in a straight line, at a 90 degree angle and at a 45 degree angle

This gives you the option of creating a formation to fit your project needs. You will simply overlap the barriers and begin the installation process. The amount of overlap is determined by height, and is listed in the chart below:
